PEN Productions can support you with a variety of services to help your production run smoothly.

Pipeline Development:

Smooth running and effecient pipe lines can save productions time and money and allow artists to focus on creating the most visualy stunning 3D work possible wihout having to worry about how to keep it organized.

PEN Productions has organized CG pipelines for Elliott Animation, Disney Canada, Rankin Innovations, Red Rover Studios and many others.


Modeling:

Although we pride our selves on our character based work PEN Productions will model just about anything, hard surface, organic, set, prop or character and just about anying inbetween.

Shaders/Texturing:
PEN has done lots of work in texturing both realistic and cartoon productions working with both Max and Mayas native renderer as well as Mental Ray. We don't currently have any other third party renderers in house but are willing to add them if the need arrises. We have also handled game texturing for companies like Pipeworks Software, Pseudo Interactive, Rankin Innovations and Autodesk Media & Intertainment.

Rigging:

Character rigging is one of the specialties of PEN Productions. In this area we can provide you with character rigs that will leave you animators wondering how they ever worked without them. Scripted work flow solutions, custom UIs and controls with the most flexable rigs that you have ever worked with.

Every character rig that we create is custom designed for the wishes of the client. We don't use predesigned rigs unless they meet every need. Some of the custom features that can be added are Spline IK Spines, Auto Clavicles, Pose Capture and Pose Mirroring, blendable IK/FK on every part of the character and just about any thing else that you can think of.

Props, vehicles and sets also need rigging to achieve great results and we can provide some of the best rigs in these areas. Objects like vehicles can be designed to stick to ground surfaces even if they are not flat, tires can be made to squish on the surface and shocks can be automated to react to the changing ground surface and the velocity of the viehicle.


Programming:

PEN Productions can handle programming needs in Max and Mel script as well as C++ with the Max SDK. Custom built tools can save hours, weeks and months on a production and make the impossible possible.

Batch processing scripts can be set up to make mass changes to files, process hundreds of animation exports to game engines or automaticaly build scenes from parts lists and do it while you are not at the office.

Automated character rigging tools can be created for speeding up the process of creating similar character rigs for large productions. TV series and game development can bennifit a lot from this sort of set up as often many of the character rigs are very similar. Facial rigging setups can also be achieved for flexable yet simple animation controls to make facial work easier to handle.

Pose capture system for just about any character rig can be created to handle the reuse of poses as well as pose mirroring.


Animation:

Character animation has been one of the main areas that PEN Productions has worked in and this is what lead to developing better character rigs. Realistic or cartoon, facial, game cycles or motion capture we can handle it all.

Lighting:

Examples:

Lighting goes hand in hand with texturing and setting up shaders. Because of the nuimber of third party renders available now we only concentrate on Max and Maya's built in renderers and Mental Ray. It is possible for us to add the renderer that you need if the project is of a scale that will allow it.

Rendering:
PEN currently doesn't have a large enough render farm to accomadate large production renders. We can handle small projects in this area only.
